For the first time ever, the cost of purchasing hospital medicines exceeded DKK 10 billion last year. More specifically, this means that, in 2024, hospital pharmacies purchased medicines via Amgros for DKK 10.2 billion. This is described in the latest figures in our Market Surveillance report for Q4 2024 (in Danish).
Total procurement of DKK 10.2 billion is a significant increase of eight per cent compared with approximately DKK 9.4 billion in 2023.
Procurement in terms of volume (defined daily doses - DDD) increased by 3.1 per cent. This means that medicines have been purchased with a higher average price per DDD than last year.
The savings Amgros obtains in connection with tendering procedures or negotiations totalled 49 per cent overall in 2024. This means that the prices hospital pharmacies pay were 49 per cent less than the list prices (AIP). This is an increase of one percentage point compared with 2023.
Total savings increased by approximately DKK 1.2 billion compared with 2023 and amounted to approximately DKK 9.9 billion for 2024.
